The move from Early Years to primary school is an important step for children — and for parents too.
Children don’t arrive at primary school as blank slates. They bring with them the learning, confidence, relationships, and skills they’ve already developed through their Early Years experience. This transition is about building on those strong foundations, not starting from scratch.
To support parents during this time, the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 (#𝗡𝗣𝗖) is offering 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 to support parents as their child transitions from preschool / Early Years to primary school.
These sessions support parents with:
• Understanding what the transition can look like for young children
• Supporting confidence, independence, and emotional security
• Encouraging self-help skills such as dressing, using lunchboxes, and tidying up
• Establishing positive routines that build self-esteem
• Supporting play-based learning at home
• Helping children feel secure, confident, and ready to learn
