Year of Care is about changing the story for Mothers in Ireland from feeling forgotten to being fully supported

The Year of Care campaign advocates for comprehensive, year-long post-natal support for Mothers in Ireland.
Aolish Gormley, a maternal mental health advocate based in Sligo, is the founder and driving force behind the Year of Care Campaign. A mother of two, Aolish experienced delayed postnatal depression after the birth of her second child, which opened her eyes to the critical gaps in Ireland’s post-natal care system. Determined to create change, she has dedicated her voice and efforts to ensuring no mother feels unsupported or alone in their motherhood journey.
In addition to leading the Year of Care campaign, Aolish is the founder of Árdu, a maternal mental health initiative based in Sligo. Árdu provides support, education, and a safe space for mothers to share their experiences and access resources tailored to their mental health needs. Through Árdu, Aolish has built a community of connection and care for mothers, offering them a lifeline during some of their most vulnerable moments.
